Rounding the Mark

Fragrant Harbor Image-click to enlarge

Wings, already leading the HKPN fleet, goes after the IRC boys.

It was a windy day for the ABC Opening Day race, just the kind of weather Wings enjoys most. We quickly got to the front of the HKPN fleet, and were 2nd boat overall to the top mark. This shot is taken at the jibe mark as the boats harden up for a very tight spinnaker reach to the bottom mark.

MVP-Andy Kung

Andy Kung and Nita. Long time Wings crew members know that we often award trophies won by Wings to the crew member that made the outstanding contribution. Andy was MVP on this race for his tireless work on the foredeck on a windy and rough day on the ocean, and he takes home the 1st place trophy.

Slow Going in Hong Kong

Sometimes sailing in Hong Kong isn't much different than sailing in Puget Sound; too little wind and plenty of boat wakes. Glad we remember how to do this. Around The Island, 2004, 3rd place.

Tsing Ma Crew, at the Gold Coast Resort, Hong Kong

Our first Hong Kong race was the Tsing Ma Regatta from Discovery Bay to the Gold Coast Resort. We finished well down in the results, but the crew was great. From the left: Nita, Marco, Judy, Tessa, Fred (behind),Sasha,Arild, Jason, Jean-Guy, representing seven countries.

Do any readers recognize the Wings Banner in the background? Yes, it is the same one. And we still had the same war song, Psycho Killer
